Abstract:

The authors give a list of six species of bats new for Senegal: Epomophorus anurus, Lissonycteris angolensis smithi, Rhinopoma microphyllum, Eptesicus tenuipinnis, Glauconycteris poensis, Glauconycteris variegata. External and skull measurements of the specimens are given. A specimen from Richard-Toll was identified as Pipistrellus rueppelli senegalensis. Thus it was confirmed that the creation of this subspecies based on the characters of a single specimen from the same area is valid. A biometric study of specimens of Hipposideros caffer tephrus and Hipposideros caffer guineensis caught together in a hollow tree, shows that Hipposideros tephrus is a valid species.
