Abstract:

The study of bats as potential reservoir hosts of arboviruses in Middle Guinea, conducted in 1981-1987, allowed to receive some new data on their fauna, biology and ecology. Five new bat species were recorded for the prospected area: Hipposideros commersoni (Hipposideridae), Nycteris thebaica (Nycteridae), Scotophilus nigrita, Pipistrellus tenuipinnis (Vespertilionidae) and Chaerephon pumila (Molossidae). Five species or bat ectoparasites as: Eucampsipoda africana, Nycteribia schmidlii scotti, Penicillida fulvida, Stilida scissa sudanica (Nycteribiidac) and Thaumapsylla breviceps (Siphonaptera) were discovered in Guinea for the first time as well.
