Abstract:

Miniopterus schreibersi is recorded for the first time from North Yemen. Because of slightly smaller measurements and geographical proximity the authors identify the SW-Arabian population as M. s. arenarius, described from E-Africa. For the first time Spinturnicidae as Spinturnix semilunaris. This is an Aethiopian faunal element, replaced by S. psi on M. s. pallidus in the Near East. This finding supports their classification of the SW-Arabian host population with the E-African subspecies, M. s. arenarius.
