Abstract:

The bats of the Central African Republic are reviewed. The occurrence of 45 spp. is documented. Locality, habitat, reproductive data and other natural history information are given. Taxonomic notes are discussed where necessary and selected measurements are listed for the species. Nineteen species are reported for the 1st time for the Central African Republic (Rousettus angolensis, Taphozous perforatus, Nycteris arge, Rhinolophus fumigatus, R. landeri, Hipposideros abae, H. beatus, H. commersoni, Eptesicus tenuipinnis, Mimetillus moloneyi, Myotis bocagei cupreolus, Pipistrellus rusticus marrensis, Scotoecus hirundo, Scotophilus dinganii, S. nigritellus, Tadarida leonis, T. nigeriae, T. spurrelli and T. thersites).
