Abstract: | This report deals with the results of mammal surveys in the Cedarberg Wilderness Area, Cape Province, Republic of South Africa. Specimens collected by a combined Transvaal Museum/University of Pretoria (Department of Zoology) expedition during February 1978, as well as unreported material previously accrued by the Smithsonian Institute’s ’African Mammal Project’ field teams, are dealt with. Material and/or other records of the 50 mammal species now known to occur in the study area are reported. Ecological aspects of some smaller mammals are discussed, such as trapping results, species diversity and relative densities, cover preference and breeding activity. |
